View of Cologne from the new observation platform

You can book a guided tour that leads you to the roof of the Cologne cathedral. On the following three webpages you can see pictures I took on one of this guided tours. The participants of this tour should be free from fear of heights. At a height of 40 meters some abyss is quite close. Nevertheless this tour is an unforgettable experience. Take a look at the following photos.

The tour starts at the northern side of the cathedral. There is a construction lift that transports the participants to a height of 45 meters.

But first there's a stop at a height of 20 meters. You go to a viewpoint inside the cathedral.

The nave, what a fantastic view ... The vaulted roofs are located in a height of 43.35 meters.

Shrine of the Three Magi.

Church St. Kunibert in background

Inside the roof you will see this metal construction, in the 19th century one of the largest metal constructions in europe, some years before the Eiffel-tower was build up in Paris.

Bottom of the picture the vaultet roofs in a heigt of 43.35 meters.

The same vaultet roofs as you can see them inside the cathedral.
